Religious Education (RE)

At Barton Hill Academy, Religious Education (RE) plays a vital role in nurturing ourRE Widget students' SMSC (spiritual, moral, social, and cultural) development, equipping them for modern life while aligning with British Values. Our primary objective in teaching RE is to captivate students through an inquiry-based approach, enabling them to develop an understanding and an appreciation for the beliefs, cultural traditions, and global impact of various religions and faiths within local, national, and global communities.

Our aspiration is for our students to find joy in the study of RE and to develop resilient responses when confronted with misconceptions, stereotypes, or divisions, therefore fostering tolerance and unity. We actively endorse respect and open-mindedness towards individuals with diverse faiths and beliefs, while encouraging students to forge their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection.
