Our School App Stay connected on the go...
At Barton Hill Academy, we take pride in being a diverse community and our children and families are from varied faiths and cultures.
It is very important to us that all our children, parents and staff have respect and tolerance for each other’s faiths, beliefs and cultures. We see this variety as rich and exciting. Our Religious Education curriculum therefore enable to celebrate each other through developing an understanding of the major world religions found in Britain.
We follow the Discovery RE scheme (developed in accordance with the North Bristol and Somerset Agreed Syllabus) which adopts an enquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Alongside this, children will be provided with the opportunity to develop their understanding of different faiths, beliefs and cultures first-hand, through educational visits and celebratory festival days.
Religious Education provides the opportunity for children to reflect on what it means to have a faith and to develop their own spiritual knowledge and understanding. As well as this, their empathy with people and their beliefs, religious or otherwise, will be enhanced.
We help the children learn from religions as well as about religions.
